LUBRICATE YOUR LOCK

As lock-sets age, they require lubrication to continue functioning smoothly. Here's simple and effective technique for lubricating lock-sets.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Graphite powder or WD40
  1. Step 1
     

    Uncap the tube of graphite powder and position it at the top of the key hole entry. Hold the tube at a 30 degree angle upward.

  2. Step 2

    Squeeze tube twice to deposit graphite into the lock and tumblers.

  3. Step 3

    Insert the key into the lock and turn it to open and close bolt multiple times in order to work the graphite into the tumblers.

  4. Step 4

    If the key does not operate smoothly, repeat Steps 2 and 3.

  5. Step 5
     

    Position the graphite tube above the bolt port and squeeze twice to release graphite powder into the seam between the bolt and bolt port.

  6. Step 6
     

    Position the graphite tube on the side of bolt port and squeeze twice to release powder into the seam between bolt and bolt port.

  7. Step 7

    Repeat Step 6 on the opposite side of the bolt.

  8. Step 8

    Insert the key and open and close the bolt to deposit the graphite.

  9. Step 9

    Wipe any excess graphite from key hole and bolt.
